As shown in the image below Xiao Jie site is neighboring the old steel factory and Ci Qi Kou. In our design we have introduced five new areas which are newResidential, Agritainment, Central Park, Community Center, Heritage Square and Tourism as shown in red. Those five parts are linked togetherby the business street in blue, and the central park which stretches all the way from agritainment zone to tourism zone, creating a sense of continuity.
DESIGN CONCEPT:
BALCONY TOWN: The physical plug-in space can be actual building or outdoor open space introduced to the existing urban space to serve a certain function. In our case we propose to create the special building that take the advantage of existing topography without disturbing the good landscape of the site.By combining the balcony idea we create more open space which in turn will encourage relaxation and interactions mong the residents .A visual plug-in space includes different kind of corridors introduced to existing city or town streets, which in turn maximizes and easy access of different functions in the site.In our case we propose to create a series of visual landscape and open spaces to serve the same purpose.
Principle IDEA
Because of the unique topography of Chongqing and our site we have proposed that “balcony town” would be the best fit for this design.
By creating different balconies ,corridors, pavilions and other open spaces, we create great views in site, bring people to the exterior having activities, and have a close touch with nature.
